Registration Instructions for the Grief Education Seminar:
The Grief Education seminars will be tentatively held on the week before Christmas. There will be three seminars held on different dates and different locations. You are welcomed to attend all. The meetings will be held at each of the high schools in Avoyelles Parish (Avoyelles High, Bunkie High, Marksville High). I will let you know the exact dates and times, however they will be held in the evening between Monday December 15th and Thursday December 18th. To register, give me a call at 264 3480 so that we can talk about a date and time that suits you.
The class will extend an opportunity for families to support and share with each other. I will use a slide projector (power point) to assist us in understanding the grief process.

Families experience the death of loved ones differently. Some are anticipated and peaceful, while others are unexpected, sudden, and tragic-such as the loss of a child, spouse, or parent. Understanding the stages of grief will guide the bereaved toward a normal recovery. The most common stages of grief are denial, anger, bargaining, depression, and acceptance. The first stage (Denial) is a counter shock stage that anesthetizes one so that the grim reality is not faced all at once. The second stage (Anger) is critical to the vitality and recovery of the grieved. "Healthy anger is good grief." However, remaining in a holding pattern of anger without transcending the other stages leads to morbid grief which is detrimental to recovery. This can lead to chronic depression, drugs violence, divorce, or suicide. Deep despair and loss of hope and purpose can be alleviated by the Grace of God and death education. Eternal life lies ahead for all believers in Jesus. We will meet with innocent children and believers who have gone before us. "Why should I fast? Can I bring him back again?
I shall go to him, but he shall not return to me." -2 Samuel 12:23
